2006-present Multi-lingual Information Sheets for American Society for Information Science & Technology

(www.asist.org/infosheets/) Begun as Chair of the Membership Recruitment Subcommittee of ASIS&T, an information sheet was designed especially for reaching out to potential members in countries other than the United States. The content, design and translation were initially coordinated for seven languages (Chinese (simplified & traditional), English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish). The project continues to grow, with Greek, Swedish and Romanian added in Fall 2006, and translations due in Spring 2007 for Arabic, Hebrew, Mongolian, Russian, and Urdu.

2005-present International Calendar of Information Science Conferences

(icisc.neasist.org/) The Calendar was co-founded with ASIS&T member Michel Menou and the support of three ASIS&T chapters. It lists conferences around the world expected to be of interest to those working in information science and related disciplines. In the first year, over 500 events, hosted in over 75 countries were listed. The site received over 9,000 visits monthly from over 80 countries. Ongoing work is now supported by volunteers from seven countries with plans in the works for both Spanish and Farsi translations.

2005-present Integration and Implementation Sciences Thesaurus

(web.simmons.edu/~andersoc/iis/) The thesaurus was produced specifically for Dr. Gabriele Bammer, Research Fellow at Australian National University and Harvard University, in support of the growing network of individuals, organizations, literature and other resources that constitute the emerging specialization of Integration and Implementation Sciences. It was constructed with a fellow student, Kyle Nicholls, as part of a course, and remains a reference resource. It is built with TheW32 thesaurus construction software.

2004-2005 ERUS: Electronic Resource Usage Statistics

(web.simmons.edu/~andersoc/erus/) The ERUS project was begun as an independent study project to create a single, integrated, web-accessible database for collecting, reporting and analyzing usage statistics from the broad scope of vendors providing electronic resources to libraries. The project grew into a partnership between Simmons College, Villanova University and Lehigh University in the hopes of developing a comprehensive repository. It was built with PHP/MySQL.

2004 ASIST 2004 Annual Meeting Visitor’s Guide

(web.simmons.edu/~asist/am04/) The web site was created as part of a class, on behalf of the Simmons student chapter and the New England chapter of ASIS&T, to help members visiting Providence, RI for the 2004 Annual Meeting to find the restaurants, accommodations, attractions, conveniences, maps and transportation information they would need to plan their trip.

(www.utip.info/jma/directory/) In 2002, the family record of over 13,000 cousins descended from one Scottish immigrant couple (John and Betty More) was moved from a custom, DOS-based program to a Microsoft Access database. In 2005, it was made available via the web with PHP and MySQL and was designed to offer cousins immediate access to data about their cousins, the opportunity to make updates to the vital information of their family, and find other cousins with similar interests or useful expertise.
